Where does Fatwood come from? Through-out the south Fatwood refers to the "fat" or "resin" content found in pine tree stumps. Natural oily resins are found in the tree stumps of downed pine trees and cut into 8 inch pieces then split by hand. The finished product is the best natural fire starter available.
